Designed and built by John Paananen while at Cranbrook Academy of Art, this ‘suburban tipi’ or Tiploo is a fusion of three different nomadic home structures: the yurt, igloo, and tipi. Created with modern building materials, it boasts a dramatic 16’ vaulted ceiling with operable skylight, concrete central fireplace, slate entry with Pergo floors and white vinyl siding exterior. The structure itself is easily added on to for additional space along with options for windows and other amenities.
The uniquely beautiful Tiploo is a flexible space that can accommodate many different uses (e.g., a Zen meditation room, a yoga studio, a guesthouse, a hot tub enclosure, sauna, children’s playhouse, art studio). The owner will disassemble and reassemble the Tiploo on the buyer’s property
